History shows us that the technology that is more free tends to overcome any tech that inhibits the user's liberties. eg. Betamax vs. VHS: 'The VHS format's defeat of the Betamax format became a classic marketing case study, now identified with the verbal phrase "to Betamax", wherein a proprietary technology format is overwhelmed in the market by a format allowing multiple, competing, licensed manufacturers.' source Linux is to VHS as Windows is to Betamax.
Of course it will. It's a simple fact that Linux is better.

The biggest controversy of windows vs. Linux has been in my opinion the fact that all programs are supported on windows. This is no longer the case, windows 8 sends that down the tube many programs wont run on windows anymore. while everyday more and more programs are made available to Linux users.

Windows is simply to standardize and accepted for it to be overthrown, at least anytime soon.
Linux being free does not justify mass change to Linux.
Linux requires training, as most people are unfamiliar with it. Windows requires 0 – none.
Unless Microsoft makes a blunder, Linux will always be apart of the side show with a cult following.
