It won't be just walmart and frys that does it. The price will do it. You can't buy a $150 PC with windows on it. If GNU/Linux can provide the same quality, or better, environment for the price of zero, why would vendors choose Windows? If you havn't seen xgl on Linux yet watch this demo. It gets really good around midway through: XGL Demo. Google for an better quality xvid of it.
